It is on the Oberhausen-Osterfeld Süd–Hamm line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station.〔 The station was opened 1 May 1905 by the Prussian state railways.〔 It is served by Regional-Express service RE 14: Der Borkener (Essen–Borken), RegionalBahn service RB 44: Der Dorstener (Oberhausen–Dorsten) and Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 9 (Haltern–Wuppertal), each operating every 60 minutes during the day.
